Brief memoir of a soldier's training at Camp Sevier (near Taylors in Greenville County, S.C.), at Camp Mills (Nassau County on Long Island, N. Y.) and his deployment to France during World War I as a member of Co. B, 117th Engineers, Rainbow Division. Includes occasional comments on activities, record of towns and places visited, casualties sustained, and list of names and rank of staff personnel. Although this item has been described and cited as a "diary," Bonner apparently began this journal more than a year after the events discussed, as revealed in his poetic description of the view from the train along the states of the eastern seaboard en route from S.C. to New York: "The trip up was enjoyed very much and I can truthfully say now after 14 months 'touring' France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany that I have seen nothing to surpass the scenery...." Apparently a resident of upstate S.C. prior to enlistment, Bonner reports a brief visit "home" to visit relatives [in Donalds, S.C.?] before departure for Camp Mills.
